Rock Spur (2011)
Bay gelding by Magnus out of Flying Diamond
Latest:
Now transferred to the care of Samantha Molino in Townsville, Rock Spur is enjoying the warmer weather and won impressively at all four starts for the new stable in his first preparation.
Resuming for a new campaign after a barrier accident curtailed his last preparation, Rock Spur was an unlucky, fast-finishing 2nd over 1000m at Townsville in December, 2017. Given time between runs, he ran again at Townsville on the 13th of February, 2018, and (typically) he stormed home from the tail of the field to grab a dramatic last-stride victory.
History:
This promising colt broke through to win at his 3rd career start at Geelong on the 1st of February, 2015. After being luckless at his first two starts, including a 3rd placing at Sandown Lakeside on the 14th of January, Rock Spur this time took (bad) luck out of the equation with Jockey Jake Noonan sending him to the front – which is where he would remain to win the 1300 metre The Sporting Globe 3YO Maiden Plate.
It is expected that this talented son of Magnus will soon gain a metropolitan victory.
