Among the quality thoroughbreds highlighted on the list is Prince Standaaan. His powerhouse performance of sustained speed and stamina saw him win the 1998 Group Two Moonee Valley Cup – running a record time for the 2500 metre trip (2:36:36) – a record which would stand for 11 years.

Listed among his other wins is the Listed Schweppes Cup over 1600 metres at Caulfield – this illustrating his versatility as a racehorse.

Prince Standaan was also Group One placed behind Bulta in the South Australian Derby. Anyone who ever saw Prince Standaan race would remember his typical braveness and ability to race on the pace and sustain speed over long distances.
