    Tears Royal

    Tears Royal (1996)

Tears Royal was an impressive flag-bearer for Tarcoola Stud in the early part of the new century. This impressive chestnut son of Royal Academy would go on to win 9 races from his 33 start career – and have a super impressive 33% winning record when competing in Listed or Group Races.

The major victory for Tears Royal was the 2002 Group Two Blamey Stakes, running home an impressive half-length winner over Weasel Will in the 1600 metre feature event at Flemington. That victory came hot on the heels of his win a week earlier (also at Flemington) when he won the Listed PFD Stakes over 1400 metres.

Tears Royal was the epitome of the perfect miler, a strong imposing horse who would settle on the speed and then find another gear at will to put a margin between he and his rivals.
